Visit the Malabar Coast

Once under the control of the British East India company, the Malabar region of southern India includes the southwestern 845 km coastline between Goa and Cape Comorian and the tropical forests and mountain slopes of the hinterland in present day Kerala.

Part of the Chera Dynasty around 1 BC and St Thomas the apostle visited this region in the 1st Century AD. This region was also visited by the Greeks, Romans and Arabs trading spice, particularly black pepper. This trade gave way to Portuguese control after the arrival of Vasco Da Gama in 1498 and later the Dutch.

Today Kerala and the Malabar coast makes a popular tourist destination, providing a relaxing place in which to explore this remarkable history, local culture, traditions and cuisine as well as to enjoy a tropical atmosphere.

At Icon Holidays we understand luxury, high service standards and the need for exotic tranquillity. We’re ready to help plan your unique holiday with 3 unique, unhurried itineraries and superb accommodation set amidst this beautiful part of India.
